THE PROPERTY

The towering white spire, large windows, and raised terraces of the main house overlook luscious green gardens, with stunning flower beds and lavender plants spattered here and there.

The house was originally built in 1715, for António Cremer and his wife Catherine van Zeller, a Dutch admiral who was sent to Portugal during the Spanish war of succession. Cremer received the “Ordem de Cristo” for his services, the highest honour bestowed by the Portuguese King. Rolling in this affluent history, there’s also an ancient chapel in the gardens that was erected by Cremer after the King’s stay. The Portuguese Fairy Tale Villa is the most ideal place to host events and productions, with a myriad of outdoor spaces and large grounds, including charming secret alcoves to host receptions in.

Whether it’s a photoshoot, a film shoot, or accommodation for productions taking place in the area, you won’t find a better base in the whole of Portugal.

There is large outdoor tent to host parties and gatherings for numerous guests in, that is permanently available to be erected throughout the year. The outdoor swimming pool’s tranquil salt waters are overlooked by the back of the main house. The pool is around 170m2 in area, and has a large shallow area and a deep end of 200cm. Sunbeds and seating are provided around the pool and the terrace leads onto a springy green lawn. There is a spa onsite, situated behind the pool, which offers a wide variety of services, including massages, a steam room and lots of different therapies. The 40 hectares of cork oak forests, fields and unspoilt countryside surrounding the main house are yours to enjoy.

Breakfast is included with accommodation, but lunch and dinner at an extra cost.

You can either take a room in the main house, with its huge wooden-floored bedrooms and ceiling-to-floor length windows, or there are separate private apartments if you’d prefer. The kitchen in the main house is not accessible, but everything else is free to use as you wish. The interiors are regal, beautiful and done-up in the perfect combination of modern and traditional upholstery, as the old house has been restored. Stunning Persian rugs and oak panelling add a homely feel to this breath-taking palatial building. There are 9 bedroom suites, each with large double beds and private bathrooms. The bathrooms boast deep baths and traditional Portuguese tiling that will take your breath away. There’s a large central sitting room downstairs, with multiple plush sofas, wide shuttered windows and decadent chandeliers adorning the ceilings. Central archways indoors add a unique dimension to the building, separating eating spaces from the living areas but creating an open-plan feel that accentuates the spaciousness. The 2 independent apartments are great if you want extra privacy. Each of these apartments have their own kitchens and 2 bedrooms that have been recently refurbished. All in all, a stay at this breath-takingly beautiful villa will not disappoint, and it is the perfect place to hold functions and shoots of all different sizes.
