SALVATERRA DE MAGOS

One of Portugal‘s hottest tourist destinations.

East of Lisbon, and only one hour by car, the small and charming Salvaterra de Magos town can be found.

THE ACTIVITIES

Boat tours, days on the beach and visits to the marina are up there with things to do when visiting this town.

However, it also used to be a place favoured by the court, and so take note to observe the ruins of old buildings, that were once regal in their nature.

The town is surrounded by pine tree forests and pasture land, and horses aren’t a rare site on the outskirts of the town.

Known for its famous bull fight, this town has a rich sense of community that can’t be found in many other places. If you’re not faint of heart, try and organise your trip to coincide with a bull fight: it certainly gets the blood pumping!

THE HISTORY

There are a few good restaurants and the town, and even a spa for those wanting to fully put their feet up and relax.

So why not relax in traditional Portuguese culture, soak up the history of the town as well as make the most of the nearby beach, and head to Salvaterra de Magos.
