THE AREA

One of Portugal‘s hottest tourist destinations.

Stretching along the Atlantic Coast of Portugal, the Troia peninsula is located just north of Comporta. Activities range from dolphin watching to a trip to the golf club or the casino. Just a short ride across the Sado Estuary from Setubal, this gorgeous natural area is home to many an exotic bird.

THE ENTERTAINMENT

The impressive golf course is 18 holes, and, if all that’s not enough to entertain you, the remains of the Roman town Cetobriga also provide an interesting day trip.

The beaches of Troia are also famous; huge stretches of sand and cute marina restaurants, perfect for families or groups of friends alike.

Comporta itself is a village on Portugal’s west coast, just an hour from Lisbon.

Comprised of rice paddies, pine forests and rolling sandy dunes, the scenery here is unusual and enticing. Known by some as a secret paradise, with fishing huts on stilts juxtaposed next to modern cafes and beach bars, Comporta has a lot to offer and is as yet relatively undiscovered, with its charm still intact.

THE WILDLIFE

Only an hour and a half from Lisbon, Comporta is an absolute must-see Portuguese spot.

Forming part of the Sado Estuary nature reserve, Comporta’s multitude of wildlife and white sand dunes are hugely attractive. A myriad of excellent restaurants can be found around Comporta, so it’s a prime spot for those looking for amazing meals.
