Sao Miguel, the largest island, seduces visitors with its Sete Cidades and Fogo Lagoons.

Scattered around the island are geysers, hot thermal waters and volcanic lakes. To the east is the island of Santa Maria, with warm white sandy beaches, and vineyards covering the slopes like an amphitheatre of giant staircases.

In the central group are the islands of Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, Faial and Graciosa.

On Terceira, the World Heritage town of Angra do Heroísmo is steeped in history and cultural festivals.

Faial is covered in blue hydrangeas and home to the extinct Capelinhos volcano, which resembles a lunar landscape. In front is Pico island, a mountain that emerges from the sea, with vineyards set amongst black lava fields, a unique culture that also has World Heritage status. On São Jorge, the highlight is the local cheese, a unique specialty with an unmistakable flavour.

All the islands boast an array of activities.

From whale and dolphin watching, scenic hikes, visiting vineyards of locally produced wine, surfing, canyoning, bird watching something for the adventurous and more relaxed.

Let these island landscapes transport you to a world where time stands still amongst the awe inspiring nature.
